Fluid Power Technologies International and Konstanz Kommunikations undergo consolidation with Mountain Stream Group to form new, Chicago-based experiential communications design consultancy.

(Hampshire, IL, 27 May 2009) – Long-time B2B agencies, Fluid Power Technologies International (FPTI) and Konstanz Kommunikations have been merged into Mountain Stream Group, Inc. (MSG) an experiential communications design consultancy based in suburban Chicago. Jeff Klingberg, president and CEO of MSG announced the consolidation earlier this month along with the launch of the consultancy’s new web site (http://www. mountainstreamgroup.com).

Involved with both FPTI and Konstanz Kommunikations prior to the consolidation, Mr. Klingberg said “We combined the companies because our clients were asking for greater access to the visual, verbal and sensory communications design services Mountain Stream Group offers—especially now when they need to find a competitive edge. Our broad portfolio of engineering, management consulting, marketing communications and workforce development services will help them connect with their stakeholders not only physically and rationally, but emotionally as well.”

“With the unification, we’re now able to bring the very best thinking from a more diverse talent pool together for every client. Clients will also benefit from our increased capacity to provide our services globally—under one brand.”

The experiential communications design consultancy focuses on consumer, business-to-business, industrial, and professional services organizations that desire to integrate various communications disciplines, such as: information architecture, copywriting, industrial design, instructional design and visual identity design among many others, to create and broadcast total communication experiences.

Mr. Klingberg has an engineering background as do many of the communications professionals on the Mountain Stream Group roster. “When we work with our clients—whether it’s doing a market assessment for new business opportunities, providing design/production expertise, consulting on sales channels, helping coordinate an internal quality accreditation process or developing educational seminars—they expect us to understand the specialized demands of their business environment,” said Mr. Klingberg. “Having technical backgrounds enables us to integrate into client projects with short ramp-up time—then quickly identify and creatively solve their most challenging problems.”

“Communications is all about problem solving—how to get stakeholders to connect and persuade them to act. It’s also about the psychology—the emotion—which I think that most organizations and their staffs forget about when it comes to their buildings and workspaces, information systems and workflow processes, products/services, and interpersonal interactions, especially in the B2B and industrial marketplace.”

“Therefore, our campaigns have to work on a number of levels in order to be successfully engaging. Like most ad agencies and other design firms we have to be fun and dynamic, but we’re also engineers so practicality and efficiency in our communication is a very big deal—as is technical accuracy.”

Mr. Klingberg explained our clients appreciate the approach his agency takes when it comes to developing total communications experiences and explaining their communications rationales. And, like a true engineer, much of what Mountain Stream Group offers in the way of communications services are explained (in detail) in the form of white papers offered on the MSG web site. The most recent white paper added to the MSG web site is entitled: “Safety Information in Collateral Material”—a 42-page dissertation explaining the rules in the new ANSI Z535.6 standard for providing everyday safety messaging.

“A lot of agencies say they ‘walk the talk’—which isn’t so hard to do if you’re selling beer or fast food,” mused Mr. Klingberg. “Our talk is just a little more technical.  We still walk it, though, and our clients appreciate that.”
